He was educated at Claremont Fan Court School and is a graduate of Christ's College, Cambridge where he was Chairman of Cambridge University Conservative Association. He is also a graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts from the same The Peter Stark Producing Program as his writing partner Alfred Gough. With Gough, he wrote the Jackie Chan vehicles Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights.
