Il progetto complessivo è da attribuire all'architetto Norman Foster, anche se altri architetti hanno contribuito alla progettazione di singoli edifici. Il progetto prevede l'edificazione di edifici residenziali, commerciali e terziari ed anche un parco. La consegna dei lavori dell'area Sud e la fine delle opere di urbanizzazione è prevista a novembre 2008 mentre i lavori per la realizzazione della zona 'Montecity Avenue', nell'area nord, termineranno entro il 2010. L'investimento che è previsto per la realizzazione dell'intero complesso ammonta a circa 2,8 miliardi di euro. Per quanto riguarda la struttura finanziaria, la Risanamento S.p.a. ha creato la società Milano Santa Giulia S.p. a con il preciso obiettivo della riqualificazione dell'area Montecity-Rogoredo.
