  • Michael Robert Venafro is former Major League Baseball left-handed pitcher. He is an alumnus of James Madison University. He is also an alumnus of Paul VI High School in northern Virginia. Drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 29th round of the 1995 Major League Baseball Draft, Venafro would make his Major League Baseball debut with the Rangers on April 24, 1999. In the 2006 season, Venafro played for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, and was called up to the Rockies on September 7, 2006, and earned a win in his first appearance with the big league club. On December 7, 2006, Venafro signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins with an invitation to spring training. On May 13, 2007, Venafro was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays from the Twins, and assigned to the Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs. He was released on August 1, 2007, and signed a minor league contract with the St. Louis Cardinals on August 14, 2007. He became a free agent at the end of the season.
