Melun is a commune in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France. It is located in the southeastern suburbs of Paris 25.7 miles (41.4 km) from the center. Melun is the capital of the department, as the seat of an arrondissement. Its inhabitants are called Melunais.
