Rabbi Mechel Scheuer was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1739 to his father Rabbi David Tebele Scheuer. He led his father's Yeshiva in Mainz as its Rosh Yeshiva during the years 1776 and 1777. In 1778 he became rabbi of Worms and in 1782 was appointed rabbi of Manheim; then as rabbi of Coblence where he died in 1810 (27 Shevat 5570 on the Hebrew calendar.)
