Max Schur, M.D. was a doctor and friend of Sigmund Freud. He assisted Freud in committing suicide. Schur was born in Stanislau in what is now Ukraine. He fled the advancing Russian army and arrived in Vienna where he trained as a physician and later as a psychoanalyst. He contributed knowledge to both fields, founded two psychosomatic clinics, and explored the connection between psyche and soma in many of his 37 papers as well as in his book Freud Living and Dying.
