In her 2002 book, A Big Life in Advertising, Wells cited DDB partners James Edwin Doyle, Maxwell Dane, and William Bernbach as significant influences on her subsequent career. Wells married former Braniff president Harding Lawrence in 1967. He died in 2002 at age 81.
