- Marvin Lee Minsky ist ein amerikanischer Forscher auf dem Gebiet der künstlichen Intelligenz. Gemeinsam mit John McCarthy, Nathaniel Rochester und Claude Shannon begründete er 1956 auf der Dartmouth Conference den Begriff der künstlichen Intelligenz. Später sind er und Seymour Papert auch Begründer des Labors für Künstliche Intelligenz am Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Er hat zahlreiche Texte zu diesem Fachgebiet sowie über verwandte Themen der Philosophie veröffentlicht und gilt als Erfinder des konfokalen Laser-Rastermikroskopes. Weitere Erfindungen sind mechanische Hände und andere Teile für Roboter, der Muse-Synthesizer für musikalische Variationen gemeinsam mit Edward Fredkin und die erste Logo-Schildkröte gemeinsam mit Seymour Papert. 1951 baute er mit Dean Edmonds SNARC (Stochastic Neural Analog Reinforcement Calculator), einen neuronalen Netzcomputer, der das Verhalten einer Maus in einem Labyrinth simulierte.
