In 2007 de Mori signed a three year deal with American promoter Don King. On April 11 2008, in Auckland New Zealand, de Mori scored a one sided eight round unanimous decision over American Ed Mahone. Mahone, a former world title challenger, was a big favourite going into the fight. Mark has since won two fights in America both by knockout as a result of body blows, he is now ranked the number 17 heavyweight in the world by the prestigious WBC.
