By the time he reached the age of 13 he was a very accomplished drummer/pianist, getting hired and playing on professional recording sessions for commercial jingles in his native Australia. It was about this time that Mark ventured into musical composition and record production. When Mark turned 18, his family moved to The Philippines where he began his career as a professional producer/songwriter. Producing & writing his first hit record at age 18, for The Filipino market. From age 18-24 Mark produced and wrote on over 40 gold and platinum albums for artists all over Asia. Primarily for the Japanese, Filipino and Malaysian markets. On a lot of these Albums Mark produced and wrote on multiple cuts. Mark also wrote and produced jingles for; Pepsi, Bristol Myers Squibb and Procter & Gamble for a lot of these Asian markets. Velasquez's "Drawn" album was the first to feature the arrangement of "Emotion" made famous by Destiny's Child, predating the Destiny's Child's version by about 2 years.
