However, it is well known that her father, long-time Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Joseph Berrios, is in political position to hand-out property tax breaks to these entities through the government agency he heads. While this not illegal it is considered highly questionable. For the first time in her tenure as a state representative, Ms Berrios will face a challenger in the general election. Green Party candidate Jeremy Karpen, a therapist and domestic violence counselor, will face Berrios in the November election.
