V Pise začínali takto rok až do 1749. Takže například v průběhu normálního roku 1125 začínal ve Florencii k 25. březnu teprve rok 1125, zatímco v Pise začínal ve stejný den už rok 1126. V papežské kanceláři se užíval způsob florentinský od poloviny 10. století až do roku 1088. V letech 1088–1145 byl souběžně(!) užíván též způsob pisánský a od roku 1145 až do doby papeže Bonifáce VIII. se prosadil opět způsob florentinský.
