- Manfred Gnädinger a.k.a. Man or O Alemán was a German hermit and sculptor who lived in the village of Camelle, on the Costa da Morte, in Galicia (Spain). He lived a very simple and natural life, building sculptures on the beach where he lived and tending to his small garden. In November 2002, when the oil spill of the Prestige destroyed his sculptures and the ecosystem of the area he lived in, it is thought that Man let himself die of melancholy and sadness, thus becoming a symbol of the destruction unleashed by the oil spill.

Dezember 2002) - bekannt als O Alemán oder Man - war ein deutscher Einsiedler und Bildhauer, der in Camelle an der Costa da Morte in Galicien lebte. Sein einfaches und naturbezogenes Leben verbrachte er mit Gartenarbeit und dem Bau von Skulpturen am Strand.

Epoux de la directrice du festival d'Eegnosmorth (Pays de Galles) Pat Milesi, il a divorcé en juillet 1975. Épris de liberté et profondément écologiste, il est l'auteur d'une œuvre à ciel ouvert, art brut, Land Art, des sculptures de galets, tours mégalithiques dressées en bord de mer. Il consacrait tout son temps à cette œuvre, sa raison de vivre, que des centaines de visiteurs purent admirer. En novembre 2002, quand la marée noire du naufrage du Prestige détruisit ses œuvres et tout l'écosystème alentour, Manfred sombra dans la mélancolie. Touché au plus profond de lui : « Si l'on agresse mes œuvres c'est moi que l'on tue », il se laissa mourir peu de temps après la catastrophe et devint alors un véritable symbole et martyr populaire en Galice, symbole aussi de la révolte populaire devant les mensonges de l'État et des médias espagnol (Ils ont longtemps nié et voulu minimiser la catastrophe). Il avait créé son musée à Camelle, légué à l'Espagne après sa mort le vendredi 28 décembre 2002.

Prowadził proste, zgodne z naturą życie. Na plaży, gdzie mieszkał i uprawiał swój mały ogródek, tworzył rzeźby z kamieni i rzeczy wyrzuconych przez ocean. W ten sposób powstało małe muzeum, które Man udostępnił zwiedzającym. Gdy w listopadzie 2002 doszło do katastrofy ekologicznej - wycieku ropy z taknowca MT Prestige, muzeum Mana oraz pobliskie środowisko zostało zniszczone. Man załamał się i po miesiącu zmarł (28 grudnia - święto świętych Męczenników), jak niektórzy uważają, ze smutku. W ten sposób stał się niewinną ofiarą wycieku ropy i tym samym symbolem męczennika.
