The Malta Convoys were a series of Allied supply convoys to sustain the besieged island of Malta during the Mediterranean Theatre of World War II. The convoys were strongly opposed by Fascist Italian and Nazi German sea and air forces during the Battle of the Mediterranean. At the end of 1942, the relative success of Operation Pedestal, and Allied landing operations in North Africa changed the balance decisively in favour of the Allies.
