Malm (population 1800) is the administrative centre of the municipality of Verran in the county of Nord-Trøndelag, Norway. Malm was separated from Beitstad as a municipality of its own July 1, 1913 - but it was merged with Verran January 1, 1964. Long traditions with mining of iron and sulphur from made Malm an industrial centre of the county. The mine company Fosdalen Bergverk was owned by the state of Norway and some of the profit was spent to build a top modern primary school.

The school of Malm was one of three pioneer schools in Norway, which started 3-years middle school/”junior high school” (7-9 grade) in the 1950s. New small industry has been established since the end of the mining period, were steel constructions for offshore and bridges are made, Malm is a village in Nord-Trøndelag with 1800 inhabitants. Malm is located by the Trondheimsfjord 32 kilometres west of the city of Steinkjer.

Før 1906 var Malm ei typisk jordbruksbygd. Fra 1906–1997 drev Fosdalens Bergverk gruvedrift på stedet. Hovednæringen i dag er småindustri og jordbruk. Malm er kjent for Malm Trekkspillklubb, som har flere NM-gull i trekkspill, senest under NM i Bø i Telemark i 2007. I 2006 har Malm 100-årsjubileum og det er blitt avduket en byste av den lokalkjente revyartisten, sangskriveren og tidligere rektor ved Malm skole, Mikal Høyem. Tettstedet var preget av fraflytting etter at Fosdalens Bergverk ble lagt ned. Malm IL er den lokale idrettsorganisasjonen i bygda, og driver med friidrett, ski og trimaktiviteter.
