The Malayan languages are a branch of the Malayic languages that spread from central Sumatra or possibly western Borneo. Malayic languages include "para-Malay" languages of central Sumatra such as Minangkabau, "aboriginal Malay" languages such as Temuan, and the various Malay languages proper, such as Banjar and Indonesian.
