TOKYOPOP also has Kanpai! licensed. Gravitation was the first BL to have broken into mainstream leading way for the overwhelming popularity of yaoi/shounen-ai today. There are twelve volumes currently available; and she is continuing the series with Gravitation EX(which is also licensed by TOKYOPOP),there are also two novels (one of which is written by Murakami herself). She also has written several issues of yaoi doujinshi, published by her doujinshi circle; Crocodile Avenue. (Not actually published, it can only be purchased through doujinshi carriers & CA's website). Rimigra aka Remix Gravitation is the most popular and consists of sexual content but of quite a mild nature, unlike Megamix Gravitation, which is very explicit and detailed. Gravitation was so successful it has its own anime series, which consists of 13 episodes as well as two "Lyrics of Love" OVAs. She has created other manga, but Gravitation is the most famous. Maki Murakami has continued the Gravitation series with Gravitation EX, which has also been licensed by TOKYOPOP. Her latest work is Gamerz Heaven, which includes 4 volumes in Japan. It is currently licensed by ADV Films in America. She is one of many manga artists who draws her own doujinshi including Gravitation Remix 1-12, Gravitation Megamix EST, Gravitation Megamix Panda, Gravitation Megamix Kumagoro, Gravitation Megamix Capybara, Kanpai! DJ - Unapai, Gamerz Heaven DJ - Director's Cut, and much more.

Debutó en el 1995 con Narushito no Genki (tragedia de un narcisista), aparecida en la revista Kimi to Boku (Tu y Yo), publicación lanzada por Sony Magazines, en donde se vería al año siguiente el nacimiento de Gravitation. Debido a la gran respuesta por parte de los fans el manga sube su popularidad en el 2002. Después de más de ocho años de Gravitation, en el 2004 se seguía publicando con éxito en Wallflower debido al cierre de Kimi to Boku. Salió el anime en el 2001 y un OVA de dos partes en el 1999. La edición inglesa del manga es TokyoPop (2003) mientras que la española, realizada por la editorial Glénat (2004), en la actualidad se sigue publicando. La serie Gravitation tiene mucho éxito en Japón mientras que en occidente también empieza a tener un gran éxito. - 村上 真紀（むらかみ まき、5月24日 - ）は、日本の漫画家。北海道出身。 1995年、『きみとぼく』に掲載の『ナルシストの悲劇』でデビュー。翌1996年から2002年まで、同誌で『グラビテーション』を連載。コメディタッチのボーイズラブ作品として人気を集め、テレビアニメ・OVA化もされた。その他の作品に『君のうなじに乾杯!』など。 商業誌での執筆活動の傍ら、同人誌活動も活発に行っている。 アニメ『グラビテーション』のアフレコ見学に行ったとき、主演の関智一を目の前にし「近付いた者しか出来ないことをやろう！」と思い、関の匂いをこっそり嗅いでいたらしい。その前のCDドラマ収録の時は松本保典の匂いも嗅いでいたという。村上本人によると「お2人ともいい匂いでした」。 ちなみにアニメーターの村上真紀とは同姓同名の別人である。
