Williamson took on the role of lock following the retirement of Ben Kennedy at the end of the 2006 season. A goalkicker during the earlier years of his career, in 1997 Williamson was Adelaide's top pointscorer with 70 points and in 2002 he was Northern Eagles' top pointscorer with 98 points. His record for most points in a match is 20 (3 tries, 4 goals) in Round 26, 1999, playing for Canberra against Balmain Tigers. He played in the 2007 NRL grand final defeat to the Melbourne Storm. but missed out on the 2008 NRL grand final Centenary Grand Final against the Melbourne Storm due to injury. Manly won with the record score of 40 - nil. His father, Henry Williamson, represented Queensland in the 1970s.
