A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he is currently the country's Acting Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts. He was formerly an officer in the Republic of Singapore Navy, rising to the rank of Rear Admiral, and served as Singapore's Chief of Navy from 1999-2003. Lui is a Member of Parliament representing the Tanjong Pagar Group Representation Constituency.
