- Lot Clark was a United States Representative from New York. Born in Hillsdale, New York, Clark moved with his parents to Otsego County in 1796. He pursued academic studies and studied law. He was admitted to the bar on June 11 1816, and practiced in Norwich, New York. He served as district attorney of Chenango County in 1822 and 1823. Clark was elected as a Crawford Democratic-Republican to the 18th United States Congress. He was appointed postmaster of Norwich on April 29 1825, and served until April 12 1828. He again served as district attorney of Chenango County in 1828 and 1829. He moved to Lockport, New York, in 1829 and continued the practice of law. He became president of the Lockport Bank in 1829. He served as member and agent of the so-called Albany Co. , owners of all the unsold lands in Niagara and Orleans Counties and in the northern parts of Genesee and Erie Counties. He moved to Buffalo, New York, in 1835, and became projector of the first wire-cable bridge over the Niagara chasm. He served as president of the Suspension Bridge Company until his death. He served as member of the State assembly in 1846. He died in Buffalo, New York, December 18 1862 and is interred in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, New York.
