Loris Francesco Capovilla is an Italian Prelate of Roman Catholic Church. At age 93, he is one of oldest Roman Catholic bishops and Italian bishops. Loris Francesco Capovilla was born in Pontelongo, Italy in October 1915, ordained a priest on May 23, 1940 of the Archdiocese of Venice. He formed a close friendship with Cardinal Roncalli (Later Pope John XXIII) when the Cardinal was Patriarch of Venice.

Loris Francesco Capovilla was born in Pontelongo, Italy in October 1915, ordained a priest on May 23, 1940 of the Archdiocese of Venice. However, he claims to have never called himself Roncalli's friend, but rather saw the older Italian as his bishop, his father, his patriarch. He remained at Roncalli's side after his election to the Papacy and would continue to do so until the Pope's death. Loris was appointed bishop to the Archdiocese of Chieti-Vasto on June 26, 1967 and ordained July 16, 1967. On September 25, 1971 Loras was appointed prelate to the Loreto Prelature and the Titular archbishop of Mesembria. He would resign his position from the Loreto Prelature December 10, 1988.
