The album was produced by Ivo Watts-Russell (joint-founder of record label 4AD) and recorded at Blackwing Studios, London. The album was engineered and mixed by John Fryer. It was originally available on LP, CD, cassette, and in a limited edition wooden box containing all audio formats, video tape, and etchings. A VHS and Beta compilation of music videos for all the songs was released as well.

Pierwotnie płyta została wydana w 1987 na płycie gramofonowej, jednak w 1992 doczekała się reedycji na płycie CD. Istnieje także kaseta VHS z teledyskami. W Polsce płyta została wydana przez Tonpress. Tytuł płyty to fragment tekstu utworu Fish zespołu Throwing Muses. Za projekt okładki odpowiada 23 Envelope.
