  • Live/Dead is the first official live album released by the San Francisco-based band Grateful Dead. It was recorded over a series of live concerts in early 1969 and released later in the year on November 10. At the time of its release, Robert Christgau wrote that parts of the album contained "the finest rock improvisation ever recorded. " A landmark live album that captured the Grateful Dead's improvisations at their best – Allmusic would write that "Few recordings have ever represented the essence of an artist in performance as faithfully as Live/Dead" – it is also the final album with keyboardist Tom Constanten. The first 1:34 of "Dark Star" can be found on the previous track, "Mountains of the Moon", on Fillmore West 1969: The Complete Recordings. In 2003, the album was ranked number 244 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
  • Live/Dead ist das insgesamt vierte Album von Grateful Dead. Es ist das erste Live-Album der Band.
  • Live/Dead on vuonna 1969 julkaistu Grateful Deadin livealbumi. Albumin kappaleet on taltioitu useammasta eri konsertista. Kappaleet "Dark Star" ja "St. Stephen" ovat Fillmore Westin konsertista 27. helmikuuta 1969 ja "Death Don't Have No Mercy", "Feedback" ja "And We Bid You Goodnight" Fillmore Westin konsertista 2. maaliskuuta 1969. Kappaleet "The Eleven" ja "Turn On Your Love Light" ovat Avalon Ballroomin konsertista 26. tammikuuta 1969. Toisin kuin myöhempinä vuosina, vuoden 1969 alussa Grateful Deadin konserttiohjelmassa oli vaihtelua vähän. He improvisoivat kappaleiden "Dark Star"/"St. Stephen"/"The Eleven" yhdistelmää useita kertoja viikossa ja tutkivat laajalti kappaleiden mahdollisuuksia. Kosketinsoittaja Tom Constanten oli tällä levyllä viimeistä kertaa mukana Grateful Deadin kokoonpanossa.
