A pesar de la enorme disminución en el número de sus fieles, el patriarcado sigue siendo la mayor comunidad cristiana de Turquía. El Patriarcado armenio de Constantinopla reconoce la primacía del Catholicos de Armenia, con sede en Etchmiadzin, Armenia, en los asuntos que se refieren al ámbito de la Iglesia armenia.
