- Lega Pro Seconda Divisione is the name of the fourth highest football league in Italy, the lowest with a professional status. It consists of 54 teams, divided geographically into three divisions of 18 teams each. Until 2008 the league was known as Serie C2. San Marino Calcio takes part to this league. Before the 1978-79 there were only three leagues of professional football in Italy, the third being Serie C. In 1978, it was decided to split Serie C into Serie C1 (the third highest league) and Serie C2. Upon its inception in 1978-79, Serie C2 consisted of four divisions, however, that number was reduced to three since the start of the 1991-92 season. During the regular season, teams play only other teams in their own division. Each opponent is played twice, once at home and once away, for a total of 34 matches. Games are scheduled such that in the first 17 matches, every opponent is played once. In the last 17 matches, the same opponents are played in the same order with the only difference being that the venue changes.

Se divide en tres zonas: A, B y C. La temporada 2008–09 será la trigésimo primera temporada de fútbol en la competición en la Lega Seconda Divisione desde su establecimiento en 1978, y la primera desde la denominación de Serie C2 a Lega Seconda Divisione. Está dividido en dos fases: la liga regular, jugado de septiembre de 2008 a mayo de 2009, y la fase de playoff a partir de mayo a junio de 2009. La liga se compone de 54 equipos divididos en tres grupos de 18 equipos cada uno, que dividirán a equipos geográficamente. Ascenderán los equipos que acaben primeros en la liga, más un equipo que gane el playoff de cada división a Lega Prima Divisione; relegarán a los equipos que acaban últimos en la liga, más dos perdedores del playoff de descenso a la Serie D. En total, ascenderán seis equipos a Lega Prima Divisione, y relegarán a nueve equipos a Serie D.

- Serie C2, jest czwartą po w kolejności ligą piłkarską we Włoszech. Grają w niej 54 zespoły. Z każdej grupy (A, B, C) bezpośrednio do Serie C1 awansują dwa pierwsze zespoły. Drużyny zajmujące w swojej grupie miejsca 3 lub 4 grają o awans w barażach. Drużyny zajmujące trzy ostatnie miejsca w grupie spadają bezpośrednio (zespół czwarty od końca gra w barażach o utrzymanie) do Serie D (5 Liga).
- Серія C2 — четвертий рівень італійського футбольного чемпіонату, який розділений на три зони (A, B і C) по 18 команд у кожній. Започаткована в 1978 році, коли Серія C була розділена на два дивізіони: Серію C1 і Серію C2. Розіграш чемпіонату проводиться окремо в кожній зони. По результатам розіграшу дві команди від кожної зони переходить до Серії C1. Найкращі команди кожної зони здобувають підвищення автоматично, а чотири команди в кожній зоні, які посіли місця з другого по п’яте, наприкінці сезону влаштовують між собою перехідний турнір (Play-off), переможець якого також потрапляє до Серії C1. Три гірші команди кожної зони вибувають до Серії D. Команди, що посіли останні місця, переходять туди автоматично; між командами, що закінчили чемпіонат на місцях з 14-то по 17-те, влаштовується перехідний турнір (Play-out), і до Серії D вибувають дві гірші команди цього турніру. Команди, які вибули з ліги, заміняють гірші команди Серії C1 і кращі команди Серії D.
