The League of God's House was formed in what is now Switzerland on January 29, 1367 to resist the rising power of the Bishopric of Chur and the House of Habsburg. The League allied with the Grey League and the League of the Ten Jurisdictions in 1471 to form the Three Leagues. The League of God's House, together with the two other Leagues, was allied with the Old Swiss Confederacy throughout the 15 and 16 Centuries.

Venne costituita il 29 gennaio del 1367 e comprendeva: Coira, i "Quattro Villaggi" (con l'esclusione di Haldenstein, che fu signoria fino al 1803) e la regione di Tumiliasca, sulla sponda sinistra del Reno Posteriore (Hinterrhein), tra la confluenza con il Reno Anteriore (Vorderrhein) e l'imboccatura della valle dell'Albula: in quei tempi la zona era di vitale importanza per il controllo della strada che saliva al passo del Settimo. Facevano ancora parte del territorio Vaz/Obervaz, Bergün/Bravuogn, la valle della Sursette (Surses) tra Sur e Bivio, l'Alta Engadina, Val Bregaglia, la Val Monastero e la giurisdizione di Sottocalva in Val Venosta. Nel 1408 anche Poschiavo, precedentemente sottomesso a Milano, entrò a far parte della Lega. Il sigillo era costituito da uno stambecco, raffigurato anche sullo stemma.

A Liga da Casa de Deus, juntamente com as outras duas ligas, formou uma nova aliança com a antiga Confederação suíça ao longo dos séculos XV e XVI. Após as Guerras Napoleônicas, a Liga da Casa de Deus acabou por integrar parte do cantão dos Grisões.
