Her guitar studies began when she was nine years old. She studied for five years with Lou Sabini while growing up in Paramus, New Jersey. Sabini told her about Berklee, informing her that even though she was eleven she was using college textbooks: A Modern Method for Guitar by William G. Leavitt. Passarelli attended Berklee concurrently with Melissa Etheridge. The two were classmates and friends. Passarelli's students include John Ryan, Derek Sivers founder of CD Baby, David Rawlings, and Kyle Patrick of Click 5. Passarelli was George Harrison for the Beatles tribute band All Together Now (formerly known as Get Back), performing on thirteen tours between 1995-2007. She has played with Suzanna Sifter, Melissa Etheridge, Pat Metheny, Steve Rodby, Jeff Song, Mark Kohler, Leni Stern, Jane Miller, John Mettam, Sarah Burrill, Danny Morris, Sandra Kott, Thaddeus Hogarth. Passarelli coined the phrase "Control the Wavicles" in October 2007 while teaching a guitar lesson, relating music to quantum physics. Today, Passarelli is a professor of guitar at Berklee, a co-founder of Feather Records, and the lead guitarist/vocalist for the pop/rock group Two Tru. She co-produces with Cindy Brown. Two Tru was on the major record label, Myrrh/Word records for a compilation contribution, featuring their song "Tell Me Your Idea". Lauren Passarelli hosts the monthly Songwriter's Workshop at the Harvest Cafe in Hudson, Massachusetts. Passarelli has many professional endorsements including DR Handmade Strings, Seymour Duncan, Soundwave Research, D'addario, Vox, Line 6, Groove Tubes, ADK, Godin, Audio Technica, Guild, Washburn, Martin, Rane, Bose, Guild, Fender, Hofner... and a lover of Gretsch guitars because of George Harrison. Some of Passarelli's students believe that her song "My Norwegian Friend", with its collage layered ending, from her CD Shadow Language inspired the Beatles' because Passarelli handed Giles Martin a cassette demo of "My Norwegian Friend" in the late 90s. Both Passarelli's brothers, Ed and Marc Passarelli, are professional graphic artists.
