El juego ofrece carreras ilegales en la ciudad de Los Ángeles con más de 50 coches de marcas como Chevrolet, Nissan, Lotus, Mitsubishi... El juego destaca por su modo Carrera, consiste movernos libremente por la ciudad para llegar hasta los puntos donde empiezan las carreras. En la mayoría de las carrerasel itinerario está señalizado por checkpoints que alcanzamos buscando atajos. Aparte del modo carrera, también afrontamos huidas o retos especiales, por ejemplo, derribar carteles publicitarios chocando contra ellos. En estas pruebas de escapatoria ganamos dinero que puede usarse para mejorar nuestro coche, aunque no podamos tunearlos a nuestro gusto, las modificaciones son automáticas. El juego, además del modo carrera, también ofrece carreras sueltas y partidas a pantalla partida para dos jugadores.
