Itse palstat ovat jäsenten yksityisaluetta. Aluetta hallinnoi ja hoitaa Kumpulan Siirtolapuutarhayhdistys r.y. Yhdistys vuokraa palstat jäsenilleen. Vain Helsingissä kirjoilla oleva voi vuokrata palstan. Vuokraaja voi siirtää vuokrasopimuksen edelleen. Palstoista maksetaan vuosittain maanvuokra Helsingin kaupungille sekä kulutus-, alueen hoito- ja jäsenmaksuja yhdistykselle. Mökkien maksimikoko on 26 m². Kaikessa rakentamisessa tulee noudattaa kaupungin ja yhdistyksen vahvistamia ohjeita. Yhdistys järjestää vuosittain sekä sisäisiä että yleisölle avoimia tapahtumia, joista perinteinen juhannusjuhla on näkyvin.
