Krishna Pal (1764–1822) was the first Indian convert to Christianity due to the missionary activity of William Carey, the founder of the Baptist Missionary Society, and his co-workers. Krishna Pal was born in Calcutta. After his conversion and baptism in the River Ganges in December 1800, he renounced his caste. He wrote the hymn O Thou, My Soul, Forget No More which was translated from Ben­ga­li to Eng­lish by Jo­shua Marsh­man.
