  • Kevin Hearn and Thin Buckle are a Canadian band consisting of Barenaked Ladies multi-instrumentalist Kevin Hearn as the front man, bassist Chris Gartner, drummer Great Bob Scott, (both former bandmates from the The Look People) and keyboardist/guitarist Brian MacMillan. Guitarists Martin Tielli and Derek Orford were originally members, the former leaving to pursue other interests, and the latter currently being unable to play (though he plays on four tracks of The Miracle Mile as a "musical guest"). MacMillan joined the group after Night Light was released. Kevin Hearn and Thin Buckle have three albums out: H-Wing, a reflective album that was mostly written by Kevin Hearn while he was in the hospital being treated for chronic myelogenous leukemia, was released in 2001. Night Light was released in 2004, although copies were made available for purchase at Barenaked Ladies concerts in late 2003. The album The Miracle Mile was released in Canada in 2006. Kevin Hearn also released a prior solo album in 1997, Mothball Mint. It featured accompaniment from many Toronto-area musicians who were friends of his, including all of the original Thin Buckle members. Bob Scott played drums on all of the studio tracks (one track on the album was recorded live at the Chicago Barenaked Ladies show from which the Rock Spectacle album was recorded). Chris, Martin and Derek each played on several tracks. The band plays live sporadically; often in the Toronto area. They typically play songs from their three albums, as well as from Mothball Mint, Kevin's songs from The Story of Harmelodia, and covers of other artists. They appeared on Canada AM on August 8, 2006, performing the song "The Good Times Virus".
