Katie Weatherston is a women's ice hockey player. The daughter of David and Anna Weatherston, the five-feet four inch Weatherston began playing hockey at age 5 in Thunder Bay. She was a two-sport player as a teenager, playing both soccer and hockey. Her soccer skills were good for her to play with Canada's under-19 women's soccer team for a season, but chronic ankle injuries forced her to focus on hockey. Weatherston attended Dartmouth College, where her performance gained her much recognition.

She was originally earmarked as a prospect for the 2010 Canadian Olympic women's hockey team, but her performance in a training camp in August 2005 earned her a spot on the 2006 team. She plays right wing or center. She is a psychology major, a certified elementary school teacher, a motivational speaker, and runs her own all-girls hockey school, the Superior Edge Hockey School (www. superioredgehockey. com).
