Julio Correa was a Paraguayan poet in Guarani language. He was born in Asunción, August 30, 1890. His grandfather (from the side of his mother) was Pollack, his last name was Myzkowsky. His father was Portuguese. Correa left the school at young age. He started to publish his poems in 1926. Encouraged for the poet Manuel Ortiz Guerrero, he started to write an article titled “Dialoguitos Callejeros” (Small Street Dialogues) in the newspaper Guarani, of Facundo Recalde.

His creativity broke out during the Guerra del Chaco (Chaco’s War). His work in Guarani language was very well received by the public and with them he stood out as an author, actor and director. From 1934 to 1936, he published his poems in the magazine Guarania, of Natalicio González. Those became part, later on, of the book Body and Soul. (1943). In 1947, was arrested because of his writings. The civil war that year had a negative effect on the author, and started to get depressed. He isolated in his country house in Luque, where he died on July 14, 1953.

Alentado por el poeta Manuel Ortiz Guerrero, empezó a escribir en una sección titulada “Dialoguitos callejeros” del periódico Guaraní, de Facundo Recalde. Su creatividad estalló con la Guerra del Chaco. Sus piezas en idioma guaraní fueron recibidas con gran éxito y en ellas se destacó como autor, actor y director. De 1934 a 1936, publicó sus poemas en la revista Guarania, de Natalicio González, que luego integraron el libro Cuerpo y Alma. En 1947, fue detenido por sus escritos. La guerra civil de ese año tuvo un efecto negativo en el autor y éste cayó en el decaimiento y la desilusión. Se recluyó en una quinta en Luque donde murió el 14 de julio de 1953.
