Julia Eileen Gillard (born 29 September 1961) is an Australian politician and the current Deputy Prime Minister of Australia. She is the fourteenth person to hold this position and is the deputy leader of the federal Australian Labor Party. Julia Gillard has been an ALP member of the Australian House of Representatives since October 1998, representing the Division of Lalor, Victoria. She was elected unopposed as Deputy Leader on 4 December 2006.
