Saint John of Beverley (died 7 May 721) was an Angle bishop during the time of the kingdom of Northumbria. He was the Bishop of Hexham and then the Bishop of York which was the most important religious designation in the area. He went on to found the town of Beverley by building the first structure there, a monastery. John was associated with miracles during and after his lifetime, he has since been made a saint when he was canonised by the Catholic Church in 1037.

John soll adliger Abstammung gewesen sein und aus Harpham im heutigen East Riding of Yorkshire stammen. Seine geistliche Ausbildung erhielt er beim damaligen Erzbischof von Canterbury, Theodor von Tarsus. Zeitweise gehörte er auch dem Konvent von Whitby an, wo er in Kontakt zur Heiligen Hilda trat. 687 wurde er zum Bischof von des northumbrischen Bistums Hexham geweiht; 705 wurde er Nachfolger des (Heiligen) Bosa. Er galt als sehr belesen, eine Reihe von Briefen und Homilien werden ihm zugeschrieben. 718 trat er vom Amt des Bischofs zurück und zog sich in das von ihm gegründete und später nach ihm benannte Kloster in Beverley zurück, wo er 721 starb. Sein Nachfolger als Bischof wurde Wilfrid II. Später wurde er heiliggesprochen. Gedenktag ist sein Todestag, der 7. Mai.
