John Tu is the co-founder of Kingston Technology, along with David Sun (both grew up in Taiwan). He studied electrical engineering at Technische Hochschule Darmstadt. Tu is notable for supporting and sponsoring Erin Gruwell's Freedom Writers and the Freedom Writers Foundation.
