John Howard Marks is a retired former professional ice hockey player. He is currently head coach/director of player personnel for the Dayton Gems. Marks served his 657-game NHL career with the Chicago Black Hawks, recording 275 goals and 197 assists for 472 points as well as 1291 penalty minutes. He is widely considered the most successful player ever in the Chicago Blackhawks organization.

He was the head coach of the Augusta (GA) Lynx of the ECHL until they folded midway through the 2008-09 season. In the 2006–2007 season he was the head coach of the Fayetteville Fireantz of the SPHL [Southern Professional Hockey League] and under Marks the team won the PRESIDENT’S CUP taking 1st place in the playoffs. The first for the Fireantz and the 1st championship for the city of Fayetteville in 51 years. He has 3 sons, and his oldest, Jake, is an up-and-coming baseball star.
