He held the office of Chairman of the Private Bills Committee between 1923 and 1938. He held the office of Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Postmaster-General between 1924 and 1929. He was again elected a Member of Parliament for Ipswich between 1924 and 1938. He was created a Baronet, of Ipswich, Suffolk on 22 March 1929. He was invested as a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (F.R.G.S.). He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L. ) of Suffolk. He was created Baron Belstead, of Ipswich, Suffolk on 27 January 1938.
