  • John Burton Campea (born February 26, 1972) is a Canadianfilm director, writer, producer, and film journalist. Campea started his career as Client Services Director for Satellite Studios, a visual effects and 3D animation studio whose work appeared in a number of films, including Spy Kids 2, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, The One, and Frank Miller's Sin City. In 2003 Campea founded The Movie Blog (TMB), a film website offering daily editorials and commentary on current movies, movie news, and the film industry. TMB quickly became a major influence in the world of online "fandom," and eventually a full-time occupation for Campea. The Movie Blog has since been referenced in major media outlets such as CNN, USA Today (Hot Site of the Day), CBS, NBC and dozens of others. In 2006, Campea and his co-host Doug Nagy won their first Bloggie for “Podcast of the Year” for The Movie Blog's podcast show Uncut, which still runs weekly. Campea made the leap from film journalist to film-maker in 2007, releasing his documentary Prince of Peace: God of War, a film examining the stark contrasts between the pro-war and pro-pacifism movements within the Christian church. Prince of Peace: God of War played at several film festivals in North America and received favorable reviews. In 2009 Campea completed filming his first feature film, The Anniversary, slated for release in fall of 2009. Written and directed by Campea, The Anniversary is a romantic comedy examining the angst, stigmas, and stereotypes of thirty-something dating and relationships. Despite entering the world of film direction and production, Campea remains senior editor of The Movie Blog, dividing his time between his home town of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and Los Angeles, California.
