The title can be translated as New Book Recording Effective Techniques. In the book Qi Jiguang writes about strategy, armed and unarmed fighting and many other aspects of warfare. It also set certain standards for the forging of weapons, this is what he wrote about the forging of the short sword: It was also general Qi who promoted the training of unarmed techniques (quan fa). He didn't see much use in it on the battle field, but thought it provided a good basic training for his soldiers.
- Il Jixiao Xinshu (紀效新書, in Wade-Giles chi-hsiao hsin-shu, traducibile in Nuovo Libro che Testimonia l’Efficacia) è un trattato di strategia militare che parla anche di arti marziali cinesi, opera del generale Qi Jiguang (戚继光), durante l’epoca della dinastia Ming. Di questo libro vennero fatte due redazioni: una circa nel 1560 – 1561 che conta di 18 capitoli (纪效新书十八卷, Jixiao Xinshu shiba juan); un’altra edizione ridotta a 14 capitoli, anche se arricchita di nuovo materiale, nel 1584.

Ook schreef hij een aantal gedichten en proza die verzameld zijn in het werk Collectie van ZhiZhi hal (止止堂集) vernoemd naar zijn studie vertrek in Jizhou.
