In October 1987, he was sentenced to 10 years in Federal prison for taking part in a series of bombings in the New York area since 1984 to protest Soviet treatment of Jews. The group defines itself as "fighting to save America and Israel from Islamic terrorism. " Unlike most Kahanist organizations, which take positions only on issues related to Israel, JTF also has an American agenda; it wishes to stop what it calls the "Third World invasion of America" and is against America becoming what it calls a "Third World banana republic". JTF also supports India in its fight against Islamic terrorism as well as Serbia against Bosnian Muslim and Albanian Islamic extremists. JTF's messages have also caused it to be condemned for alleged racism, and has been condemned by the Anti-Defamation League and the Simon Wiesenthal Center.

Das Ziel der Organisation ist der Spendenerwerb zugunsten radikaler zionistischer Gruppen in Israel sowie die Vertreibung aller Moslems aus Israel zugunsten eines Großisrael (eretz jisra'el ha-schlema). Die Gruppe bezeichnet sich selbst als eine Organisation, die „die USA und Israel vor dem islamischen Terrorismus erretten will“. Die JTF bezeichnet den Koran als "Terror-Bibel des Islam" und geht gegen die schleichende Islamisierung radikal und rassistisch vor. Wegen ihrer umstrittenen Aktivitäten wurde die Organisation durch das Simon Wiesenthal Center scharf kritisiert. Im medialen Bereich betreibt JTF seit 1991 einen Fernsehsender, gegenwärtig über die New Yorker öffentlich zugängliche Kabelanstalt Queens Public Television (QPTV) in Queens. Die Website der Organisation wird wegen ihrer gewaltverherrlichenden Inhalte im The Hate Directory geführt.
