- Jesse Thomas Lacey ist ein US-amerikanischer Musiker. Er ist Sänger, Gitarrist, Songwriter, Frontmann und teilweise auch Pianist der Band Brand New. Geboren wurde er als zweitältestes von sieben Kindern der Eltern Thomas und Sandy Lacey. Am Anfang war er in der befreundeten Band Taking Back Sunday, bevor er mit Garrett Tierney und Brian Lane The Rookie Lot gründete. Als dann Vincent Accardi hinzu stieß, war Brand New geboren. Es ist bekannt, dass er ein großer Fan von The Smiths und Morrissey ist. Beide Bands werden auch in dem Song „Mix Tape“ erwähnt. Es wurde ein Vergleich der Texte angestellt und es waren viele Ähnlichkeiten zu bemerken, wie zum Beispiel das „Teilen“ von Liedpassagen. Das bedeutet, dass einige Zeilen aus einem Lied in ein eigenes gebracht werden. So entsteht eine starke Ähnlichkeiten der Textzeilen. Ein Beispiel dafür ist die Zeile „This Story's old but it goes on“ aus „Play Crack the Sky“ von Brand New und „This Story's old (I know) but it goes on“ aus „Last Night I dreamt that somebody loved me“ von The Smiths.
