Jaume Castells Ferrer is a Spanish politician for the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE). From 1969 onwards, Castells worked in the steel industry becoming a member of the Unión General de Trabajadores (UGT), a major Spanish Trade union historically affiliated to the PSOE. He was a member of the Federal Committee of the UGT from 1975 to 1978.

  • Jaume Castells Ferrer is a Spanish politician for the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE). From 1969 onwards, Castells worked in the steel industry becoming a member of the Unión General de Trabajadores (UGT), a major Spanish Trade union historically affiliated to the PSOE. He was a member of the Federal Committee of the UGT from 1975 to 1978. In 1974 he joined the PSOE and the following year became a member of the Valencian Provincial Executive of the party, subsequently moving to the National Executive of the party where he remained until 1993. At the 1977 General Election he was elected to the Spanish Congress of Deputies representing Valencia Province and was re-elected in the five subsequent elections in 1979, 1982, 1986, 1989 and 1993. He was one of the main supporters of Joan Lerma for President of the Valencian Community. He also served as a local councillor for his home town of Benissa from 1979 to 1987 serving as Mayor during this period.
  • Jaume Castells Ferrer és un agricultor i polític valencià. Fill d'una família de camperols, als 23 anys es va establir a València. En 1968 va ingressar en el grup polític valencià PROLESA i en 1971 es va afiliar a la coordinadora del Metall de València de CCOO. El 1974 va ingressar a la secció valenciana del PSOE (després PSPV-PSOE i a la UGT, de la que el 1976 en fou membre del comitè federal. Endemés, el 1975 fou escollit membre de la Comissió Esecutiva Nacional del PSOE. A les primeres eleccions municipals democràtiques fou escollit regidor de l'ajuntament de Benissa de 1979 a 1987, ocupant-ne l'alcaldia durant el periode 1986-1987 i tinent d'alcalde el 1999-2003. Alhora, ha estat diputat per la província de València a les eleccions generals espanyoles de 1977, 1979, 1982, 1986, 1989 i 1993, i al Congrés dels Diputats ha estat membre de la comissió d'agricultura, ramaderia i pesca. El 1989 tornà a ser regidor d'urbanisme del PSPV a l'ajuntament de Benissa i el 1999 membre de la corporació de la Diputació d'Alacant.
