- Jan Wijn is a Dutch pianist and piano pedagogue. Wijn studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory under Cornelius Berkhout, where he received his diploma in 1955. He then studied under Bela Siki in Switzerland and Alicia de Larrocha in Spain. In 1960, Jan Wijn won first place in the "concours van Ourense" (international piano competition in Ourense). Up to 1975 Jan Wijn had an international as well as national career. Problems with his right hand caused him to retire from 1976 to 1997. Throughout this time he studied playing the piano with only his left hand. He now has full mobility of both hands, and plays with his right hand. - Jan Wijn is een Nederlands pianist en pianopedagoog. Wijn studeerde aan het Amsterdams Conservatorium bij Cornelius Berkhout waar hij in 1955 zijn solistendiploma behaalde. Voorts studeerde hij bij Béla Síki en Alicia de Larrocha. In 1960 won hij de eerste prijs op het concours van Ourense. Van 1962 tot 1969 was hij als hoofdvakdocent piano verbonden aan het Brabants Conservatorium in Tilburg en vanaf 1967 als hoofdvakdocent aan het Amsterdams Conservatorium waar hij Ben Smits opvolgde. Tot 1975 had hij een nationale en internationale carrière als pianist. Door problemen met zijn rechterhand trad hij van 1975 tot 1996 uitsluitend op met werk voor de linkerhand. Sindsdien speelt hij ook weer tweehandig repertoire.
