- Jan Němec je český filmový režisér, vysokoškolský pedagog a příležitostný herec, bývalý manžel zpěvačky Marty Kubišové. Patří k představitelům tzv. české nové vlny v kinematografii. V roce 1966 jej postihl zákaz točit filmy, ale mohl pracovat v televizi a byl jedním z prvních českých režisérů hudebních klipů. Definitivní zákaz tvorby ho postihl po invazi armád Varšavské smlouvy do Československa v roce 1968. V roce 1974 byl nátlakem donucen opustit zemi a po emigraci pobýval v Německu, Velké Británii a USA. V USA se mimo jiné živil natáčením svateb. V roce 1990 se vrátil do země i k filmové tvorbě. Jedná se také o vysokoškolského pedagoga na katedře režie dokumentárního filmu pražské FAMU. Za jeho nejvýznamnější díla jsou považovány filmy z 60. let 20. století Démanty noci pod jedné z povídek Arnošta Lustiga z Démanty noci a O slavnosti a hostech (1966). V říjnu 2002 mu prezident Václav Havel udělil Medaili Za zásluhy II. stupně v oblasti kultury.
