Jan Flinterman was a racing driver from the Netherlands, born in Leiden. Together with Dries van der Lof, he was the first driver from the Netherlands to compete in Formula One. Flinterman participated in one World Championship Grand Prix, the 1952 Dutch Grand Prix on August 17, 1952. When he had to retire his Maserati with a failure of the rear axle, he was able to take over the similar car of his team mate, Chico Landi. Flinterman finished the race in 9th place, scoring no championship points.

Ancien pilote de chasse de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il participe à ses premières courses automobiles en 1950. Ensemble avec Dries van der Lof, il a été le premier pilote néerlandais à courir dans le championnat du monde de Formule 1. Il a participé qu'à un seul Grand Prix comptant pour les Championnats du Monde, le 17 août 1952 au Grand Prix des Pays-Bas 1952. Il est parti en 15 position sur la griile de départ et du abandonner au 7 tour sur problème de différentiel. Son équipe décide d'arrêter son co-équipier Chico Landi au 43 tour pour le faire remplacer par Flinterman qui finira la course en 9 position à 7 tours du premier. Il n'a jamais eu de points au Championnat du Monde. Après sa courte carrière sportive, il devient membre du directoire d'une compagnie aérienne néerlandaise.
