Professor James F. Allen (born 1950) is a computational linguist recognised for his contributions to temporal reasoning, in particular Allen's Interval Algebra. He is the John H. Dessaurer Professor of Computer Science at the University of Rochester. He is a fellow of the AAAI, he was recipient of a Presidential Young Investigator Award for 1985 to 1989. He also served as the Editor-in-Chief of Computational Linguistics from 1983-1993.
