- Jalaa (antonym bàsàrə̀n dà jàlààbè̩) is an endangered language of northeastern Nigeria (Loojaa settlement in Balanga Local Government Area, Bauchi State), of uncertain origins. It is nearly extinct; the ethnic group has come to use the Bwilim dialect of Cham in daily life, and the few remaining speakers of Jalaa, all elderly, are much more fluent in Cham than in Jalaa. Traditionally, the Jalabe (as the ethnic group is called) are said to have come to Loojaa from an area a few miles south within the Muri Mountains, where they had shared a settlement with Tso and Kwa clans. (The name of this settlement, Cèntûm or Cùntûm, is used as a name for the language in some sources. ) Later, during the nineteenth century, the Cham arrived in the area, fleeing attacks from the larger Waja to the north; the Cham intermarried with the Jalabe, and the Jalabe began to adopt the Cham language.

Elle est actuellement parlée par une poignée d'individus âgés, en effet l'ethnie parlant traditionnellement le jalaa (les Jalabe) utilise de plus en plus le dialecte bwilim de Cham au quotidien. La tradition rapporte que les Jalabe seraient arrivés à Looja venant d'une zone située quelques kilomètres plus au sud, au sein des montagnes Muri où ils partagaient leurs terres avec le tribus Tso et Kwa. Plus tard, au cours du XIX siècle, les Cham débarquèrent dans la région, fuyant les assauts des Waja du nord : les Cham se mélèrent aux Jalabe, et ces derniers commencèrent à utiliser la langue Cham.

Находится под угрозой исчезновения — среди носителей распространён как основной язык диалект бвилим языка чам, при этом язык джалаа используют в основном старики. Считается, что народ джалабе, носитель языка джалаа, прибыл в Лооджаа из местности, находящейся на несколько километров южнее из горного массива Мури, где они проживали в одном селении (Кентум или Кунтум) с кланами тсо и ква.
