  • (Jairus is also an ancient Jewish man, a synagogue official, recorded in the Biblical Gospel account whose ill daughter dies and is resuscitated to life by Jesus Christ . See Daughter of Jairus) Jairus are an indie/post hardcore band from Kent in England. Formed in October 2001 by guitarist Dan Lucas and vocalist Adam Bray. Between October 2001 and December 2002 Jairus toured throughout the UK, gaining a large fanbase in a very short period of time, and were consequently signed to UK hardcore label Skipworth Records, who released their debut album The Need To Change The Mapmaker in 2004. Since, Jairus have toured throughout the UK, Europe and Japan and have released a self-titled EP and a split SINGLE with Japanese band "The Stiff". The band was signed to Big Scary Monsters Recording Company (UK) and Alliance Trax (Japan). On October 11th, 2007 the band's label released a statement saying that they had decided to part ways. The reason given was that "vocalist Adam Bray has decided to depart and concentrate on his studies, whilst the rest of the band felt it wouldn’t be right to continue without him. " Their second album “A Second Tier Protest” will be released in early 2008 as a digital download only.
