Doly dnes již nejsou v provozu a například v areálu dolu Eduard se dnes nacházejí tratě a střelnice na biatlon. V okolí Jáchymova je i mnoho vleků, sjezdových a běžkařských tratí a občas se tu konají i závody v lyžařském orientačním běhu. Přibližně 3 km od Jáchymova se nachází dolní stanice sedačkové lanovky na Klínovec.

De levensverwachting van de gevangenen was er slechts 42 jaar. Jáchymov is thans een kuuroord. Het water in het kuuroord bevat het radioactieve radon. Jáchymov ligt aan de route van Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary) naar Chemnitz (in Duitsland). In de omgeving van Jáchymov bevinden zich onder andere de Klinovec (de hoogste top van het Ertsgebergte) en de Plesivec (Plessberg).
